201: Symbiont
This addition to a simple brick volume in the East End of Toronto is one that is intended to adhere to, and wrap around the corner of the building in a sort of symbiotic relationship. Its corrugated steel shell breaks and bends as it extends from the corner of the house. With the intention of blurring the circumstances around the extension of the building, the roof takes a different approach, kicking off from the existing hip line with a new ridge, causing the two roofs to bleed one into the other as a singular component.
The interior of the addition is one that positions parts as in continual contrast with the brick corner of the existing house. The kink of the wrap expresses itself in the Kitchen as well as the Bedroom above.
